Things to Be Aware of Before Leaving the City to Live in the Countryside

For many people, going and living in the countryside is the ultimate dream. Away from the pollution and noise of the city, and with a much slower and peaceful way of life, it is clear why so many people hope to move out to the countryside in the future.

However, there are also things to be aware of when living rurally, and if you are planning to move to the countryside and have no experience of it, here are some of the things to consider beforehand…

Security – Although we tend to think of crime going on in the city centres, don’t expect there not to be any crime in the countryside. In fact, it is much easier for a burglar to operate in the countryside, without the glare of streetlights and the busier streets so you might want to factor in home security measures, such as CCTV and electric gates like this from somewhere like this electric gates Cheltenham based company completegateautomation.co.uk/services/automated-gate-installers/automated-gate-installers-cheltenham

Travel – Getting around in the city is easy as public transport tends to be more readily available. However, when you live rurally you are going to need a car, as not only will you not have much in the way of shops on your doorstep, but you will also be further from anywhere and the public transport in rural locations is just not as good.

Public Services – In the city, you are never really far from a hospital, a dentist or a school for example. However, in the countryside, these things can be much more difficult to access, and it is definitely something to be aware of, especially if you have a health condition that needs to be checked regularly, or you have a school age child.
